An Enjoyable Family Stay with Some Highs and Lows
Our family spent 5 good nights. The Ocean restaurant's dinner was really good, thanks to attentive staff like Madushani and Kusal. The pool area music lacked variety, and the NYE celebrations were hindered by weather conditions. Tip, Try the lunch buffet for an excellent value.

my stay at ceylon international hotel was truly a refreshing and amazing expereince. the staff was freindly and the service was good and the food spread was also lovely. the hotel interiors and the construction is quite antique and would be great if they would refurbish the rooms. otherwise i would give a 2 thumbs up for this hotel.
i would like to add that the though the hotel gives an antique look the loby looks a bit crowded and the rooms are slightly smaller. could revamp the rooms and i think this is a fantastic hotel.

great staff in the lobby and door, the Indian restaurant was very good, the waters in the main outlet need more attention to detals also the bar men in the heist, need to lisen to what people order, and not take it for granted that they want it the way most people wants thing, spesialy when requested in a spesific way.
when i requested a taxi/car to drive me to the airport on the booking and talked to the front desk regarding getting the the transport orgenised, and they still did not make the arrangement for the sett day, is something they need to work on. it went well, but it can be quite a headace when you are on a sceduale

The food was the best point, the tandoor Indian restaurant adjacent to the hotel was excellent, and the breakfast buffet was a real treat. Overall we found the the food in Sri Lanka disappointing, but not at the hotel where it was delicious. The bar happy hour was also good value for money and the fashion show held in there was an unexpected but pleasant surprise to watch.
Only very minor things but the swimming pool does get extremely shallow at one end, and it makes doing full lengths on front crawl that bit more difficult. Sun loungers with some shade would be nice too as it can get quite hot outside in the afternoon. I think that if this hotel was after the 'luxury' tag then it may have to upgrade / refurbish the bathrooms which seem to have served their realistic lifespan, as our one (although good and nice to use) does show signs of wear and tear over the years.

The staff on the front of house and also housekeeping were clean courteous and always helpful. Especially all of the guys on the concierge desk and on the main doors all had sunny smiles and great sense of humour. Housekeeping were polite and also helpful and efficient. The receptionist at the Spa when i went to book a massage was very nice and courteous and explained the treatments as well. [he was a young man cannot remember his name]
I thought the pool area was very tired looking. Also as an ex hotel person I would say that the staff at the swimming pool need more training. There is very little selling of foor or beverages and very little understanding of either with some of the staff. Everyone goes outside to smoke so make sure the tables have ashtrays. After the rain tilt the chairs so the rain falls off as many people would like to sit on the chairs without getting wet. Having your florists at the pool is a bit of an invasion of privacy for your hotel guests. Some of the staff in the Emerald were very helpful and courteous others were good at slamming plates onto the trolley after cleaning up tables at breakfast time and not looking too happy to be employed by Ceylon Continental.

It was convenient for me and at the right price.
Everything was fine except there was a smell of smoke on the 8th floor when I thought I had a Non smoking room.

Personel was great, really helpfull and nice
This was probably a good hotel but it definitely got old now... AC was making lots of noise, I could see outside between the join of my windows and it was horribly humid in my room. Only one of the two elevators was working so you had to wait a looooooong time before you get a lift... And one last thing about the price

Th ereception was smart
Place is being over-hauled - I was there x 2 days - incessant banging by men with sledge hammers - from 09.00 to 18.00 as they demolished a building attached to the hotel - so all noise reverberated through the entire hotel. I appreciate that work is needed - but management had pushed the boat out (ha!) and had x 2 men doing the (manual) demolition. I pointed out that x 4 or x 6 men would at least get the job over and done with quicker - and this would be better for guests. Shrug of the shoulder from the manager. He really was not bothered. Oh - and the waiter in the bar - his trousers looked as if they had not been washed in weeks. So bad it quite put me off my lunch. Nothing really bad - just way off the standard you would expect. A lovely hotel that has clearly gone wrong.......

I had an amazing time enjoying the delicious food and the breathtaking views from the rooftop pool. The spa and sauna were perfect for some well-deserved relaxation. Just a heads up, there was a bit of a wait at check-in, but it didn’t spoil the experience at all. 😊
